International Career
Du Plessis made his ODI debut for South Africa against India in 2011 and his Test debut against Australia at Adelaide in 2012. On Test debut, he scored an unbeaten 110 in the fourth innings to help South Africa secure a draw. He went on to represent South Africa in all three international formats and served as captain of the national team.
International Batting Record
Faf du Plessis finished his Test career with 4,163 runs from 69 matches, including 10 centuries. In ODI cricket he scored 5,507 runs in 143 matches with 12 hundreds, while his 50 T20 internationals produced 1,528 runs. His international record reflects his ability to contribute across red-ball and white-ball cricket.
Major Career Achievements
One of du Plessis’ standout T20 international performances came against West Indies in Johannesburg in January 2015, when he scored 119 from 56 balls. The innings earned him the ICC T20I Performance of the Year award for 2015. He was also named South African Cricketer of the Year in 2019 after a period in which he led the Proteas and remained a key member of their batting lineup.

His arrival gives the Capitals an experienced right-handed batting option as they prepare for a tournament running from 21 November to 20 December 2026. Season 5 will be played across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
