Sharjah Warriorz: ILT20 Season 5 Squad & Team Overview
Sharjah Warriorz are one of the two ILT20 franchises without a direct IPL ownership connection, giving the franchise complete independence in how they build and manage their squad each season. They are owned by Capri Global Capital Limited, an Indian financial services company that has been the franchise’s owner since the inaugural ILT20 season in 2023. The franchise is based in Sharjah and plays their home matches at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which has the shortest boundaries of the three ILT20 venues and consistently produces the highest-scoring matches in the tournament.
Tim Southee, the former New Zealand Test captain and one of the most experienced fast bowlers in international cricket, captained the franchise in Season 4 with JP Duminy serving as batting coach and Johan Botha as head coach. The Season 4 squad was one of the most star-studded in the Warriorz’s history, featuring Dinesh Karthik, Tim David, Sikandar Raza, Johnson Charles, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Maheesh Theekshana alongside Southee. The franchise invested USD 1,664,000 at the Season 4 auction, with Junaid Siddique secured for USD 170,000 as a statement local signing and Dwaine Pretorius acquired for USD 120,000.
Despite assembling highly competitive squads across all four completed ILT20 seasons, Sharjah Warriorz have not yet reached the tournament final. They remain one of two franchises yet to win the ILT20 title, alongside Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. However, the franchise has consistently brought in world class T20 talent and their home ground advantage at Sharjah, where short boundaries and fast outfields demand batting skill and bowling precision in equal measure, gives them a genuine edge in home fixtures.
Nicholas Pooran’s all time record of 71 sixes in ILT20 history was built significantly through his performances at Sharjah with MI Emirates, which highlights just how destructive the conditions at this venue can be when top order power hitters are in form. For a franchise built around attacking batting, Sharjah Cricket Stadium suits the Warriorz identity completely. Season 5 squad confirmations are pending, with official announcements expected before the tournament opens on 22 November 2026.
