Noor Ahmad
Player Information
Noor Ahmad Player Overview
Noor Ahmad is an Afghanistan left-arm wrist-spinner who joins Dubai Capitals for DP World ILT20 Season 5. Despite being one of the younger players in international cricket, Noor has already gained extensive experience across international tournaments and major franchise leagues. His unusual bowling angle, wrist-spin variations and ability to take wickets through the middle overs have made him a valuable T20 bowling option.
Bowling Style
Noor bowls left-arm wrist-spin, a relatively uncommon skill in top-level cricket. He can turn the ball away from right-handed batters while also using variations to make his direction of spin harder to read. Rather than being used simply to contain runs, Noor has regularly operated as an attacking middle-overs bowler capable of breaking partnerships.
His style gives Dubai Capitals a different spin option and can be particularly useful against batting lineups containing several right-handers.
Which Team Does Noor Ahmad Play for in ILT20?
Noor Ahmad plays for Dubai Capitals in DP World ILT20 Season 5. He joined the Capitals as a pre-auction signing after representing Desert Vipers in Season 4. Dubai therefore becomes his new ILT20 franchise for the 2026 tournament.
Noor was one of four players secured by Dubai Capitals before the Season 5 Player Auction, alongside Marcus Stoinis, Mustafizur Rahman and Rovman Powell. He also forms part of the Capitals’ Afghanistan group with Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli and Karim Janat.
International Career with Afghanistan
Noor’s international pathway developed rapidly after he represented Afghanistan at the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he took 10 wickets. He made his senior T20 international debut against Zimbabwe in June 2022 and immediately demonstrated his wicket-taking ability.
On debut, Noor returned figures of 4 for 10 and was named Player of the Match. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka later in 2022 and was subsequently selected for Afghanistan’s squad at the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India.
World Cup Experience
Noor made his ODI World Cup debut against Pakistan in Chennai in October 2023. At 18, he became the youngest player to make a World Cup debut at that tournament. He took 3 for 49, dismissing Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan before Afghanistan completed a historic eight-wicket victory.
He was also part of Afghanistan’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where the team produced its best performance in a senior ICC tournament by reaching the semi-finals. Noor later represented Afghanistan at the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup.
IPL and Franchise T20 Career
Noor’s franchise career has developed alongside his international progress. He made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans in 2023 and took 16 wickets as the team reached the final. Chennai Super Kings then signed him for INR 10 crore ahead of the 2025 IPL season.
His first season with Chennai became another major step in his career. Noor took 24 wickets from 14 innings, finishing as Chennai Super Kings’ leading wicket-taker and the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2025 IPL. His campaign included match-winning figures of 4 for 18 against Mumbai Indians. He has also gained franchise experience in competitions including the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League and SA20.
Noor Ahmad in ILT20 Season 5
Noor enters ILT20 Season 5 with previous experience of the competition but a new franchise around him. His left-arm wrist-spin provides Dubai Capitals with an attacking option for the middle overs, while his familiarity with UAE cricket is strengthened by Afghanistan’s regular international fixtures in the country.
Dubai Capitals begin their Season 5 campaign against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at Dubai International Stadium on 22 November 2026. With Noor joining experienced bowlers such as Mustafizur Rahman, the Capitals have multiple options for controlling and attacking different phases of a T20 innings.
