Tom Moores Player Overview

Tom Moores is an English wicketkeeper-batter who joins Dubai Capitals for DP World ILT20 Season 5. A hard-hitting left-handed batter, Moores has built extensive white-ball experience with Nottinghamshire and through franchise competitions around the world.

Dubai Capitals selected Moores during the Season 5 Player Auction. His arrival gives the franchise another specialist wicketkeeping option alongside Phil Salt and adds an experienced left-handed batter to a squad containing several powerful right-handers.

Playing Style

Moores is known for an attacking approach that suits limited-overs cricket. He can accelerate against both pace and spin and has experience batting in different positions rather than being restricted to one fixed role.

Behind the stumps, he has spent much of his professional career as Nottinghamshire’s first-choice wicketkeeper. That combination of keeping experience and aggressive left-handed batting gives Dubai Capitals additional flexibility when selecting their XI.

Which Team Does Tom Moores Play for in ILT20?

Tom Moores plays for Dubai Capitals in DP World ILT20 Season 5. He was one of the 19 players added by the Capitals through the Player Auction, joining a final 23-player squad for the 2026 tournament.

His selection also strengthens the Capitals’ wicketkeeping depth. With Phil Salt available as another specialist keeper, Dubai can adjust its combination according to batting order, overseas-player balance and match conditions.

Nottinghamshire Career

Moores developed through Nottinghamshire’s pathway and established himself in the senior side after making his first-class debut in 2016. His breakthrough coincided with a successful period of white-ball cricket for Notts Outlaws.

He was part of the Nottinghamshire team that won the T20 Blast in 2017. During that campaign, Moores contributed with both bat and gloves, finishing the competition with 13 wicketkeeping dismissals while striking at more than 144 with the bat.

Three years later, he helped Nottinghamshire win the T20 Blast again, giving him two titles in one of England’s leading domestic T20 competitions.

Strong 2025 Vitality Blast Season

Moores produced one of his strongest T20 campaigns for Nottinghamshire in 2025. He finished as Notts Outlaws’ leading run-scorer in the Vitality Blast with 459 runs at an average of 45.90 and a strike rate of 157.19.

His performances earned him the club’s 2025 Vitality Blast Player of the Season award. The combination of consistency and a high scoring rate demonstrated that Moores remained an effective attacking batter as he moved into the senior stage of his career.

England Lions Selection

Moores’ 2025 form was rewarded in January 2026 when he received an England Lions call-up for a white-ball series against Pakistan Shaheens in the UAE. He was selected in the Lions squad for three T20 matches scheduled in Abu Dhabi.

The tour also provided recent experience of UAE conditions ahead of his move to Dubai Capitals for ILT20 Season 5.

Franchise T20 Experience

Beyond county cricket, Moores has gained white-ball experience in several overseas competitions. His career has included T20 cricket in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, alongside appearances in The Hundred in England.

One of his major franchise achievements came with Trent Rockets in 2022, when he was part of the squad that won The Hundred. His exposure to different leagues and conditions gives Dubai Capitals a player accustomed to adapting quickly in short-format tournaments.

What Tom Moores Adds to Dubai Capitals

Moores offers three useful qualities to the Capitals: wicketkeeping experience, left-handed batting and a proven ability to score quickly in T20 cricket. His presence can help Dubai create better left-right batting combinations while retaining a specialist keeper in the XI.

His recent form is also significant. Rather than arriving on reputation alone, Moores enters the tournament after a productive period in English T20 cricket and an England Lions call-up in 2026.

Tom Moores in ILT20 Season 5

DP World ILT20 Season 5 gives Tom Moores another opportunity to add to his international franchise experience. With two T20 Blast titles, a Hundred winner’s medal and extensive wicketkeeping experience, he brings a strong white-ball background to Dubai Capitals.

Dubai Capitals begin their Season 5 campaign against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at Dubai International Stadium on 22 November 2026. Competition for places will be strong, but Moores’ left-handed batting and wicketkeeping provide the Capitals with a useful alternative as they shape their lineup throughout the tournament.
