Usman Tariq
Player Information
Usman Tariq Player Overview
Usman Tariq is a Pakistan international off-spinner who joins Abu Dhabi Knight Riders for DP World ILT20 Season 5 in 2026. Born on 7 June 1995 in Nowshera, Pakistan, he bats right handed and bowls right-arm off break.
Tariq arrives at ADKR after a significant period in his career. He made his Pakistan T20I debut in November 2025, represented the country at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and continued to build experience across franchise competitions during 2026. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders secured him for USD 80,000 at the Season 5 player auction.
Usman Tariq Playing Style
Tariq is a specialist off-spinner whose main value comes with the ball. His T20 record shows an ability to combine wicket-taking with economical spells, and his performances for Pakistan have strengthened that reputation at international level.
He is not used as a frontline batter, with his career role centred firmly on spin bowling. That specialist profile gives ADKR another established spin option alongside the other slow bowlers in their Season 5 squad.
Which Team Does Usman Tariq Play for in ILT20?
Usman Tariq plays for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20 Season 5. He was signed for USD 80,000 at the 2026 auction and is one of seven players listed as bowlers in the team’s post-auction squad.
This will not be Tariq’s first experience of the competition. He previously appeared for Desert Vipers during the 2025-26 ILT20 season, taking five wickets from two matches. His best figures in that campaign were 3/33, giving him direct tournament experience before his move to ADKR.

Usman Tariq Pakistan Career
Tariq made his T20 international debut for Pakistan against South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium on 1 November 2025. He took 2/26 in that match and followed it later that month with 4/18 against Zimbabwe in the Pakistan-hosted T20I tri-series.
His early international performances earned him selection for Pakistan’s 15-player squad at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. It was his first selection for a senior ICC global tournament and represented a major step in a career that had reached international level relatively late.
Usman Tariq at the 2026 T20 World Cup
The 2026 T20 World Cup became an important part of Tariq’s international career. He played five matches for Pakistan and took 10 wickets from 19.3 overs. His tournament bowling average was 14.10, while his economy rate was 7.23.
His best performance came against Namibia in Colombo, where he took 4/16. Tariq also claimed 3/27 against the United States, 1/24 against India and 2/31 against England during the tournament. He finished the competition as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets.
Usman Tariq T20I Record
By October 2026, Tariq had taken 18 wickets from nine T20 internationals for Pakistan. His best figures remained 4/16, while his international bowling average stood at 11.17. His economy rate across those matches was 6.66.
His first nine T20Is included two four-wicket hauls: 4/18 against Zimbabwe in 2025 and 4/16 against Namibia at the 2026 T20 World Cup. Those performances helped establish him as a wicket-taking off-spin option in Pakistan’s T20 setup.
Usman Tariq Franchise Cricket Career
Before joining Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Tariq built experience across several T20 competitions. His career includes Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, as well as appearances for Desert Vipers in the ILT20.
His 2026 season also included English cricket. Tariq took 16 wickets from 11 matches for Warwickshire in the Vitality Blast, with best figures of 3/12 and an economy rate of 6.09. He also represented Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, taking six wickets from seven appearances.
Usman Tariq and the Knight Riders Connection
Joining Abu Dhabi Knight Riders continues an existing connection between Tariq and the Knight Riders franchise family. He has previously represented Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, taking 30 wickets across 19 matches during the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
That record included best figures of 4/33 and an economy rate of 6.81. His experience with Trinbago means Season 5 is not his first time playing within a Knight Riders setup, although Abu Dhabi presents a new team and a new ILT20 chapter.
Why Usman Tariq Is an Important ADKR Season 5 Signing
Usman Tariq enters ILT20 Season 5 after a year in which he played a T20 World Cup, competed in the PSL, Vitality Blast, The Hundred and CPL, and earned a move to Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. That range of recent cricket gives his ADKR profile more context than simply being another auction addition.
His move is also a chance to improve on a very short previous ILT20 sample. Tariq took five wickets in only two appearances for Desert Vipers in 2025-26; Season 5 gives him an opportunity to add to that record in Abu Dhabi Knight Riders colours after establishing himself as a Pakistan international spinner.
